Veterinarian in San Jose — Modern, Compassionate Pet Care

Picking a vet is a big deal — you're trusting someone with a member of your family. Our team built ARCH to feel like the kind of hospital we'd want for our own animals: experienced doctors, the diagnostics you'd expect at a referral center, walk-ins welcome, and doors open every night until 10 PM. Whether you need a primary vet, a sick visit for the cat, or someone who actually knows rabbits and reptiles, we're here — across two San Jose locations, with one chart that follows your pet wherever they're seen.

Veterinarian in San Jose for Dogs, Cats, and Exotic Pets

We care for pretty much everything that walks (or hops, or slithers) through the door. Dogs of every age and breed — from squirmy puppies to dignified seniors. Cats handled the way cats want to be handled: quietly, slowly, in rooms that don't smell like dogs. And exotics — rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, reptiles, birds, and pocket pets — seen by team members who actually trained in that medicine. One team, one record, one place that gets to know your animals over time.

Preventive Veterinary Care

Preventive care is honestly where we make the biggest difference. The wellness visits where we catch a heart murmur that wasn't there last year, the weight trend that's signaling kidney disease, the dental pain a stoic cat is hiding — those are the wins that add years. Visits include a nose-to-tail exam, vaccines matched to how your pet actually lives, parasite prevention, dental scoring, nutrition and behavior chats, and age-appropriate bloodwork. A hiking dog, an apartment cat, and a senior with arthritis all need different plans — we tailor it.

Sick Pet Visits and Same-Day Care

When something's off, you need to be seen today — not next week. We hold same-day slots and take walk-ins every day until 10 PM. The calls we get most: vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, ear infections, skin and allergy flare-ups, eye irritation, urinary changes, limping, and that vague 'just not himself' feeling owners are usually right about. Most visits wrap up with a clear plan, a written estimate, and meds in hand. For bigger problems, see /walk-in-vet-san-jose and /emergency-vet-san-jose.

Vaccines, Wellness Exams, and Routine Care

We follow AAHA, AAFP, and WSAVA guidelines for core and lifestyle vaccines (rabies, DAPP, lepto, Bordetella, canine flu, rattlesnake for dogs; rabies, FVRCP, FeLV for cats), but we customize based on your pet's actual exposure — not a one-size protocol. Wellness visits also cover dental scoring, body condition, parasite prevention, microchipping, and screening labs when age and history call for them. With puppies and kittens we focus on socialization, diet, and spay/neuter timing. With seniors it's bloodwork trends, mobility, and pain control.

Dentistry, Surgery, and Advanced Diagnostics

We're more than a wellness clinic. Our dentistry program runs full cleanings under anesthesia, full-mouth X-rays, periodontal therapy, extractions, and oral surgery (more at /pet-dental-cleaning-san-jose). Surgically we handle spay/neuter, mass removals, soft-tissue work, GI foreign body retrieval, and selected orthopedic and emergency procedures. Every anesthetic event includes pre-op assessment, IV access, multimodal pain control, and continuous monitoring of oxygen, ECG, blood pressure, capnography, and temperature — nothing skipped.

CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, and In-House Lab Testing

Modern vet medicine is about matching the right test to the right question — and not waiting days for the answer. Our Winchester hospital runs in-house digital X-ray, abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, full bloodwork (CBC, chem, electrolytes, T4), urinalysis, cytology, blood pressure, dental radiographs, and same-day veterinary CT (see /ct-scan-san-jose). Having all of it on site means we can usually diagnose, treat, and send your pet home in one visit instead of bouncing you across the Bay Area.

Walk-Ins Welcome

Pet problems don't book themselves a week out. Walk-ins are welcome every day at Winchester — no appointment needed. We triage on arrival so the sickest pets get seen first, and we hold capacity each day specifically for unscheduled visits. You shouldn't have to choose between waiting and driving to a distant ER. Full walk-in details at /walk-in-vet-san-jose.

Open Daily Until 10 PM

Winchester is open every day until 10 PM — weekends, holidays, the whole calendar. That covers the evenings when most pet problems actually show up and most other clinics are already dark. We're not a 24-hour ICU, and we're upfront about that: true overnight critical care gets stabilized here and transferred with full records. For everything else, our hours mean you can be seen after work, on a Saturday morning, or on a holiday afternoon without burning a vacation day.

Why Choose ArchVet?

We try to combine the warmth of a neighborhood vet with the technology of a referral hospital. Families from Willow Glen, Almaden, Cambrian, Santa Teresa, Winchester, Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos come to us because we actually listen, explain options in plain English, give written estimates before treatment, take pain control seriously, and coordinate with specialists when a case needs it. We're accepting new patients across every species we treat — no referral required. Two locations, Winchester and Santa Teresa, keep us close. More at /vet-hospital-san-jose, or /exotic-vet-san-jose if you've got an exotic.

Frequently asked questions

Is ArchVet accepting new patients?

Yes. ARCH is actively accepting new patients across all the species we treat — dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds, ferrets, and pocket pets. You do not need a referral. Simply call our Winchester hospital at (669) 230-5034 or walk in to schedule a wellness exam, transfer records, or address an urgent concern.

Do you treat dogs and cats?

Yes. ARCH provides full-service medical, surgical, and dental care for dogs and cats of every age and breed — from puppies and kittens through seniors. We use cat-friendly handling techniques and species-appropriate medical protocols, and we offer in-house diagnostics so most problems can be evaluated in a single visit.

Do you see exotic pets?

Yes. Our exotics-trained doctors care for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, reptiles, birds, and pocket pets — species that require specialized husbandry, anesthesia, and medical knowledge. For exotic species we recommend calling ahead to confirm an exotics doctor is on shift; full details are at /exotic-vet-san-jose.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes. Walk-ins are welcomed every day at our Winchester hospital, no appointment needed. Triage on arrival ensures the sickest pets are stabilized first, and stable walk-ins are seen in medical priority order. Calling ahead helps us prepare but is not required.

Are you open late?

Yes. ARCH Winchester is open every day until 10 PM, including weekends and most holidays. We are not a 24-hour hospital — for overnight critical care we stabilize and transfer with full records — but our extended evening hours cover when most non-routine pet problems actually happen.
